Marie Commissioned as SPA
The Commissioning of congregation member, Marie Williams, as Southwark Pastoral Auxiliary (SPA). Marie will augment our pastoral care team at Holy Saviour, joining our existing SPA, the lovely Mitzi Isaacs. God Bless the future ministry of our SPAs and, through their care, may all those in our Parish area be blessed.
The Commissioning of the Croydon North Deanery Leadership Team at Deanery Synod on 27 June 2019.
Archdeacon of Croydon, the Venerable Christopher Skilton, with Deaneries Development Officer, Revd Canon Duncan Swan, commissioned the newly formed Deanery Leadership Team made up of both Clergy and Laity who will lead the 12 churches of this Deanery forward in inter-parish faith and mission.
Holy Saviour Church is very much a part of this team, with our Vicar Revd Catherine being the Area Dean and many of our congregation members being part of the social justice and multi-faith projects. This year’s Deanery Confirmation was a very joyful occasion held at Holy Saviour with 27 candidates from across six Deanery churches and 250 people attending.
The Archdeacon started off with the words of St Paul, writing to the Christians in Rome says, ‘For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness.’ (Romans 12: 4-8).
The Archdeacon went on with the Liturgy in which he asked: “Croydon North Deanery Leadership Team do you believe that God has called you to this ministry? And the response of the new Deanery Leadership Team was a resounding “We do”!
